Southwest Dental Group has been part of Duncan since 1895, when Dr. Rob Schick's family first put down roots here. His father, Dr. Robert Dee Schick, practiced dentistry in Duncan for forty years before Dr. Schick took over the practice in 1999 — and that same hometown mindset still shapes every visit.
Whether you're in for a routine cleaning or a full smile restoration, our team takes the time to explain what's happening in your mouth, in plain language, before we ever recommend treatment.
A Family Practice, Literally
Dr. Schick graduated from Duncan High School and the University of Oklahoma before spending ten years in advertising. In his early thirties, with the support of his wife Margaret, he went back to school to complete his science prerequisites and was accepted into the University of Oklahoma College of Dentistry, graduating in 1998. When his father retired in 1999, Dr. Schick came home to continue the family's dental practice in Duncan.
Dr. Schick and Margaret have been married for more than 40 years and raised their two children, Jonathan and Mackenzie, here in Duncan. That family thread runs through the practice itself: several of our team members have worked alongside Dr. Schick for well over a decade.

Meet the Team Behind Your Smile
Our hygienists, assistants, and front-office team are the reason patients keep coming back for decades. Several team members — including hygienists Denee Brown and Haley Blalock — have worked alongside Dr. Schick for more than five years, and many of our patients have known them just as long.
Modern Technology, Comfortable Care
We use digital X-rays and digital scans in place of traditional impressions for crowns and bridges, and every hygiene appointment includes a 6-point soft tissue and oral cancer exam that checks the oral cavity as well as the areas under the chin and neck.
Patients also mention the small things: a 100-gallon aquarium in our waiting area, soft lighting throughout the office, and local photography on our walls taken by Dr. Schick's wife, Margaret.
